Fighting Irish Back in the College Football Playoffs, Will Take on the Tide

Fighting Irish Back in the College Football Playoffs, Will Take on the Tide

Notre Dame landed a spot in the College Football Playoffs for the second time in 3 years. The Fighting Irish come in as the #4 team and will play #1 Alabama in the Rose Bowl on New Years day, a rematch of the 2013 BCS Championship Game (yes, we don’t need to talk about the outcome of that game). It is a bucket list goal of mine to watch the Irish play in the Rose Bowl, but sadly there are…

Notre Dame vs Clemson Part 2: Can the Irish Knock Clemson Out of the Playoff Conversation?

Notre Dame vs Clemson Part 2: Can the Irish Knock Clemson Out of the Playoff Conversation?

Very few people outside of South Bend believe that Notre Dame can beat Clemson again on Saturday. Notre Dame for the most part out-played Clemson back in November, but yet the Irish come into the ACC Championship as a 10-point underdog. Yes, Clemson has Trevor Lawrence back, but Clemson still threw the ball at will last time these two teams played, and the Irish still came out with the win. Having Lawrence back for Clemson is huge, there is no…

National Signing Day: Fighting Irish Land a Top 10 Recruiting Class

National Signing Day: Fighting Irish Land a Top 10 Recruiting Class

While planning for the game Saturday vs Clemson, Notre Dame also worked on its future next season. Early signing was this past Wednesday for the 2021 recruiting class, and Notre Dame landed 24 National Letters of Intent. There were no real surprises on Wednesday, and thats a good thing sometimes when it comes to college recruiting. Notre Dame was ranked by ESPN as having the 8th best class currently, and the Irish signed 11 four-star recruits and 14 three-star recruits…

Irish Lose Defensive Coordinator; Clark Lea to become the Next Head Coach at Vanderbilt

Irish Lose Defensive Coordinator; Clark Lea to become the Next Head Coach at Vanderbilt

As reported by Pete Sampson, Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea will be the next head coach at Vanderbilt. It’s a great hire for Vanderbilt, but a big loss for Notre Dame. This really doesn’t come as a surprise though, as Clark is a native of Nashville and played for Vanderbilt as a fullback from 2002 to 2004. During his time as defensive coordinator for the Irish, Clark has turned out some outstanding defenses. This year has been no exception…

“Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and Welcome to Notre Dame Stadium”: Mike Collins, The Voice of Notre Dame Stadium, Retires after 39 Seasons

“Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and Welcome to Notre Dame Stadium”: Mike Collins, The Voice of Notre Dame Stadium, Retires after 39 Seasons

When looking at the 2020 Notre Dame football schedule, the game I wanted to attend the most was the last home game of the season. The reason wasn’t because it was Senior Day, but because it was going to be Mike Collins’ last game. The name Mike Collins might not ring any bells to most people, but if you’ve been to a game at Notre Dame Stadium you for sure have heard his voice. With the change of schedule due…

Fighting Irish Cruise Past Syracuse, Make it 24 in a Row at Notre Dame Stadium

Fighting Irish Cruise Past Syracuse, Make it 24 in a Row at Notre Dame Stadium

If someone just looked at the box score and watched zero of the game Saturday, they would think that the Fighting Irish made quick work of Syracuse. If only that was the case. Syracuse came into the game 1 and 9 and looking the part. In my blog leading up to the game, I expected Notre Dame to make it look easy on Saturday; yes, at times they did, but it was anything but an easy win. The stat that…

Senior Day 2020: Fighting Irish Look to End Regular Season Perfect as Struggling Syracuse Heads to South Bend

Senior Day 2020: Fighting Irish Look to End Regular Season Perfect as Struggling Syracuse Heads to South Bend

Saturday will be the last game at Notre Dame for a group of seniors who have only lost 6 games since walking on campus back in 2017…and half of those losses came when they were freshmen. Covid-19 will prevent giving a proper send-off, but the goal doesn’t change: beat Syracuse and stay perfect at Notre Dame Stadium. There is very little, if anything, that worries me about Saturday’s game. As long as Notre Dame leaves the locker room and takes…

There’s a First Time for Everything: Fighting Irish Clinch Spot in 2020 ACC Championship Game

There’s a First Time for Everything: Fighting Irish Clinch Spot in 2020 ACC Championship Game

News broke today out of the ACC that Notre Dame’s regular season will end after its home game vs Syracuse. With this news, Notre Dame clinched one of the spots in the ACC Championship on December 19th. The match-up will be a rematch with Clemson, who’s regular season will also end Saturday. The ACC wanted to give both teams a week off before the Championship game. I support the move by the ACC; yes, it benefits the Irish, but Clemson…
