2021 Notre Dame Season Review: From MVP to Best Play of the Year

2021 Notre Dame Season Review: From MVP to Best Play of the Year

The 2021 Notre Dame football season is over, and boy what a season it was. There were extreme highs and some very bad lows. It was anything but dull, and one that I will always remember. From MVP to best play of the year and everything in between, here are my picks. MVP: Kyren Williams RB – 1,002 Rush Yards, 14 TDs. 359 receiving yards, 3 TDs. Hard to imagine what this season would look like without Williams, as he…

Notre Dame Takes on Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl, Looks to End New Years Six Bowl Game Drought

Notre Dame Takes on Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl, Looks to End New Years Six Bowl Game Drought

Marcus Freeman is taking over for the winningest head coach in Notre Dame history, and his first game is the Fiesta Bowl against a very good Oklahoma State team. This is a tall task for any coach, let alone what Marcus Freeman is stepping into, but I think this team is fired up to play for Freeman and to send the seniors off on the right foot. From day one, Freeman did not want to look to the future, with…

Who Will be the Irish Quarterback Moving Forward? A Question that Needs to be Answered, and Fast

Who Will be the Irish Quarterback Moving Forward? A Question that Needs to be Answered, and Fast

Notre Dame played three quarterbacks during Saturday’s loss, and it was not due to injury. Jack Coan started the game, with Tyler Buckner coming in at times to get the offense going. With the Irish down 17-0 at half and the Irish offense doing little to nothing in the first half, Brian Kelly made the call to switch to Drew Pyne. Buckner would be tossed in the second half for a play, but it was Pyne’s offense in the second…

I started this blog after the 2020 Notre Dame season had started. I had thought about blogging about the Fighting Irish for a while, and sitting around during Covid gave me the time. So, the 2021 season will be the first full season that the 4th and 1rish blog will be around. I plan on keeping the same type of blogs from last year and adding more as the season goes on. Here is the plan for weekly blogs: We…

Today was my first day back to work in 6 days after getting married, I opened my laptop to over 200 new emails. The day ahead looked like a long grind until I opened twitter and saw the above tweet. WHAT A DAY! Notre Dame Stadium will be full for the home opener on September 11th vs mighty Toledo. In the article full capacity is the only thing that is a go right now, Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick said “In…

National Signing Day: Fighting Irish Land a Top 10 Recruiting Class

While planning for the game Saturday vs Clemson, Notre Dame also worked on its future next season. Early signing was this past Wednesday for the 2021 recruiting class, and Notre Dame landed 24 National Letters of Intent. There were no real surprises on Wednesday, and thats a good thing sometimes when it comes to college recruiting. Notre Dame was ranked by ESPN as having the 8th best class currently, and the Irish signed 11 four-star recruits and 14 three-star recruits…

“Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and Welcome to Notre Dame Stadium”: Mike Collins, The Voice of Notre Dame Stadium, Retires after 39 Seasons

“Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and Welcome to Notre Dame Stadium”: Mike Collins, The Voice of Notre Dame Stadium, Retires after 39 Seasons

When looking at the 2020 Notre Dame football schedule, the game I wanted to attend the most was the last home game of the season. The reason wasn’t because it was Senior Day, but because it was going to be Mike Collins’ last game. The name Mike Collins might not ring any bells to most people, but if you’ve been to a game at Notre Dame Stadium you for sure have heard his voice. With the change of schedule due…

2020 Season Likely Last for Ian Book, QB Accepts Senior Bowl Invite

2020 Season Likely Last for Ian Book, QB Accepts Senior Bowl Invite

Yesterday, senior quarterback Ian Book accepted an invitation to play in this year’s Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl is an exhibition game at the end of the season that only seniors are invited to play in. The game is played so they can show off their skills in front of NFL scouts. In a normal year there would be no one second-guessing Book accepting the invite because this would be his last year. Thanks to Covid19 and the cluster that…
