Fighting Irish to take on The Hoosiers…in 2030.

News broke today that Notre Dame and Indiana have agreed to an in-state home and home in the future. Which is awesome news…until you find out the dates. The Hoosiers head to South Bend on August 31st, 2030; yup, 9 years away. The Fighting Irish will then travel to Bloomington the following season on September 27th. Notre Dame and Indiana have played each other 25 times, with the recored being 22 and 3 in favor of the Fighting Irish. The last time these two teams played was during the 1991 season in South Bend, when the Irish topped the Hoosiers 49 to 27.

Regardless of the dates, this is awesome for a few reasons. I personally love it, because you could say I am a Hoosier alum by marriage. I have grown to root for IU when it comes to basketball and football (although the Irish are always #1). The other reason is because IU football is now relevant, and hopefully stays there for the next decade.

I love college football, but they need to find away to get these games to us sooner than 10 years from now! If this match up was next year, it would be between two Top 25 teams, an easy pick for College Game Day; headline maybe “The Blue Blood vs The New Kid on the Block.” Who knows what these two teams will look like in ten years, but these are still two games I look forward to. GO IRISH! BEAT HOOSIERS!
