News broke a little over month ago that Notre Dame would be taking on BYU in Las Vegas during the 2022 season in another installment of the Shamrock Series. This week we officially got word on the date of that game. It’ll be week 5 of the season on October 8th. There is good and bad about the Shamrock Series. The good part about the Shamrock Series (and the part I love) is that it takes the Irish to different big-time stadiums where they would normally never play. Next year is one of them. Irish are getting to play in a brand new stadium in Las Vegas. Never did I expect to see the Irish in Vegas, but I am all for it. The bad about the Shamrock Series, or any neutral site game, is that it takes a big game off the campus of those schools. Take this past weekend vs Wisconsin – that game should have been played in South Bend or Madison, not Chicago. The place was packed and the atmosphere was great, but it would have been ten times better on campus. Next year’s Shamrock Series game falls under one I am fan of and definitely one I am looking to attend.

The last time the Irish and BYU played was 2013, with the Irish getting the win. BYU and Notre Dame have played a total of 8 times, with the Irish winning 6 times.
